My mum has arthritis. She loves playing cards with her grandkids, but her hands get sore after a while, and picking cards up off a flat shiny table does not help.
We made this with her in mind, and every other Nanna and Grandpa who wants to stay in the game a bit longer.
-
KIDS CAN SET IT UP THEMSELVES: Printed spots for the Deck and the Poopie Pile mean the littlies know exactly where everything goes.
-
NO MORE SCRATCHING AT THE TABLE: Cards lift easily and cleanly off the cushioned surface, kind on older hands and easy for little ones.
-
SOFTER DICE ROLLS: The dice land on a cushioned surface instead of bare glass or timber.
-
BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED: Covered in characters from the game, so the table looks the part before a single card is dealt.
-
STAYS PUT: Non slip backing keeps the mat, and the game, exactly where you put it.
-
PACKS AWAY IN SECONDS: Rolls up small for the cupboard, the caravan, or Christmas at the grandparents'.
Ask a seven year old to set up Monopoly and you are handing them a board, a bank with all the money, houses, hotels and a stack of chance cards. It's a lot.
Ask them to set up The Golden Sausage card game on the play mat and they've got it. The Deck goes on the deck spot. The Poopie Pile goes on the Poopie Pile spot. No tokens, no bank, no board to assemble. They unroll it, they set it up, and they're ready to start the game before you have finished making a cup of tea.
Do you need it to play? No. But it makes the whole experience better, and the look on their face when they have set it up themselves makes it worth it.
